A 35/40 Minute Lead Rein is designed for families. young children (ages 5 and up), nervous adults, and anyone who would like a short taster of horse riding in a scenic environment.
Let one of our staff take you for a lead rein – a short ride on a quiet pony/horse with someone leading the entire way. 5+years
Guided Trail Rides are suitable for beginners or advanced riders, tailored to the rider’s ability. Never been on a horse before? An hour on one of our quiet mounts is a great introduction, with the beauty of the forest to calm your nerves and an experienced guide to support you. 16 years +.

Pony Rides to the Enchanted Forest are for children ages 4-12 only.
Let one of our staff take your little boy or girl for a pony ride to the Enchanted Forest – a short ride on a quiet pony with someone leading the entire way.
This is a one-way taxi – the pony ride stops at the gates of the Enchanted Forest and drops you off there to enjoy and explore and walk back on your own time.
Designed as a family activity, parents/guardians walk alongside.
The Family Experience includes access to the craft room, playground, animals and a pack for the Enchanted Forest.
Enjoy a memorable riding experience for equestrians of all ages and abilities.
Adjacent to more than 2,000 acres of Coillte managed forest, the Slieve Aughty Horse Riding Centre is ideal for trail riding and horse riding treks.
All trail riding is tailored to the rider’s ability, from beginners to advanced.
Trail rides can be booked almost any day of the week for an hour or more.
A shorter 35-40 minute lead rein can also be booked if an hour is too long for you or you wish to book riding for children and/or nervous riders who need to be on the lead.
For a family day out, book pony rides to the Enchanted Forest for the kids. It’s a great day out with the craft room, games, playground and farm animals to visit.
While you are here, take advantage of Slieve Aughty Café and grab a bite to eat before or after your ride.

- Due to the large number of no-shows and last minute cancellations, all horse riding bookings require full payment in advance
- Cancellations within 48 hours forfeit your deposit
- Please note we do not cancel horse riding for inclement weather
Important Info
- All visitors must adhere to trainers instructions at all times
- trousers and close-toed shoes must be worn in the stables.
- A boot with a small heel or wellington is required for riding.
- No shorts, skirts, dresses, flip flops, crocs, sandals, or other open footwear allowed.
- Provided safety equipment must be worn at all times
- Please ensure to inform us of any medical conditions that may effect your enjoyment while riding
- We operate a "leave No Trace" policy. All litter must be disgarded responsibly
