DESCRIPTION:Celt are delighted to welcome you to a new Family Friendly Sustainable Living & Eco Arts Festival event in the Slieve aughty centre as part of our annual Festival of Traditional Crafts Weekend in the Hills and national Sustainable Development Goals Week programme an this September! \nIn the face of climate disruption\, biodiversity loss\, and multiple community challenges our Roots of Solidarity – Eco Arts & Sustainable Living Festival & Palestinian Fundraiser aims to offer a showcase of local\, national and international initiatives joining in solidarity to address the issues of our times and offer a vital space for community dialogue\, connection\, culture\, craft and creativity – with the aim of reimagining a nature full collective pathway forward in how we reconnect to land\, food\, culture and place. \n The Centre for Environmental Living and Training (CELT) are delighted to offer this unique and inspiring 2 day Sustainable Living & Eco Arts Festival including our annual Traditional Crafts workshops and bring together earth activists\, change makers\, poets\, film makers\, rebels and dreamers to share some time in nature\, strengthen our connections\, build solidarity and deepen our collective and creative vision.  \nThis Festival sets the stage for a reimagining of our rural communities – as vital creative\, cultural\, political and ecological actors with impact at home and abroad. Bringing together artists\, craft makers\, researchers\, foresters\, farmers\, community advocates and policy-makers to explore how creative and cultural approaches to our local landscape can help build thriving rural communities\, nourish well-being\, and cultivate a deeper connection with the land and place.  \nThis festival will inspire\, connect\, and co-create visions for our future well being… and include invited guests; poet Kerri Ni Dochertaigh\, film maker Donal O’Ceilleachair\, Wellbeing Economy and Rights of Nature Advocate Dr.  Peter Doran\, Community – Tinne and Heritage Protector Aoife DeDannan\, Kevin Dudley lifelong champion of Heritage Seeds\, Palestinian Solidarity Group plus info on the Sliabh Aughty Local Landscape Partnership\, adult and children’s arts and crafts\,nature trail walks\, music and lots more..  \n full program will follow \nOver the weekend we will explore how we can infuse our collective and creative climate actions\, how to create solidarity between networks and address key challenges. \nWe are very grateful to our supporters Irish Environmental Network\, the Community Foundation Ireland and the Department of Environment\, Climate\, & Communications and especially the Small Festival Scheme under the Department of Culture Communications and Sport who enable these creative events to take place. \nCELT’s traditional skills festival workshops are held over two days at Slieve Aughty Centre. Join us and choose one from over 12 different crafts and skills to do in our courses over two days and go home with new skills\, the item(s) you made\, and new friends! Some of our courses are especially designed for children with wonderful Bushcraft\, Spinning\, and Green Woodwork options to chooses from. \nWe are very grateful to funding from the Irish Environmental Network and the Community Foundation Ireland under the Department of the Environment\, Climate & Communications and the Department of Culture\, Communications and Sport who enable these events to take place.  \n \nBooking is essential. DESCRIPTION:The first of this year’s Open Days will take place on Sunday May 19th from 10am to 4pm and will have a special focus on Forestry Promotion.  A variety of special guests\, speakers\, and demonstration stalls will highlight and celebrate the multifunctional role and benefits of trees\, including their role in tackling climate change & biodiversity loss\, and our everyday health and wellbeing!
